The Kent hamlet of Kingsdown includes the Torry Hill estate and lies close to the boroughs of Maidstone and Swale. Torry Hill was chosen as the site for the Tickham Hunt to hold their race meeting on Tuesday 15th May 1888, although after this date, and long into the 20th century, the Hunt group organised point to point meetings at Lenham. The 1888 meeting started in a field next to the White Horse at Sandway and travelled a mile and a half to a flag before turning and returning to the starting flag.
